Hot Toys Endgame Captain America 1/6 Scale Figure Avengers Unboxing & Review

what the where'd it go where's that famous america's ass [Music] hey everyone welcome back to the channel and today we'll be doing an unboxing and review video for the one second scale captain america from avengers and game by hot toys this is an interesting one because from production to even after its release this figure was riddled with divisive opinions with most of them due to hot toys design choices and now that we have this in hand let's see how this all shaked out in the end the release of avengers end game in 2019 has marked an exciting turning point for the ever-growing marvel cinematic universe actor chris evans dances one last time with the character as captain america gracefully passes his shield onto the next generation also cap finally dawned his iconic scale armor which is why many collectors of the hatoy's mcu line wondered if this will be the ultimate figure worthy of cap's final appearance and in 2021 we've got our answer though before we start i gotta say i love the drama with opening hot toys boxes having just reviewed a figure that required some serious assembly sometimes peeling off plastic is all the fun i need [Music] all right let's check out the head sculpts for me personally i think the likeness is fantastic but it's not so good that it's comparable to a movie still for example even in the hands of a skilled photographer but if you ask me what's wrong with the sculpt i'd say nothing because i can't quite pinpoint on what's off about it it's weird my theory which also applies to the unmasked head sculpt that we'll see in just a second is that these head sculpts were adjusted slightly to fit the general use of an all-purpose action figure so they're never overly specific meaning these portraits are just artist interpretations so our preconceived notions of how the character should look like play heavily into how much likeness we see in these head sculpts our past experience could also be a factor for example seasoned high toys cap collectors will notice the head is smaller than previous releases coupled with the bulging shoulder pads that we'll talk about in a second this sculpt could look like a pen head for some people but for those who had never owned the hot toys cap before and thus don't have this frame of reference this might not even be a problem at all then we have the unmasked head sculpt again i have the same disconnect between looking at the head sculpt and the actual actor yet i absolutely cannot deny that the likeness and the paintwork on this headsculpt is excellent and because this releases for such an iconic character it falls in the hands of so many people at different points of their lives as the toy collector which could be a reason for the wide range of opinions we see on these head scopes but what sealed the deal for me was i was able to get this low lighting shot that kind of resembles chris evans pose at the end credits goodness that looks so cool oh and before i forget hot toys went with a middle of the road type of weathering all throughout this figure you can see some of that in the seams on the helmet as well as a little bit beneath the eyes i always do a double take on these because they look like paint defects and much like the head sculpts there was a lot of debate around the costume ever since announcements first being the silver star some argue that it's a little bit too small i'd say this is still the case on the final product but it's definitely not very noticeable in hand but perhaps the biggest issue was with the scale mail in the film the armor is embedded directly into the suit but hatoy's implemented this as a separate layer over the fabric which has led some to worry that the chest might be too bulky and it certainly looked that way from the promo pics but i think hot toys did well to address this issue because the final product actually looks pretty good you can still see the noticeable divide between the fabric and the armor but the silhouette from the chest down to the waist is flush and tapered giving the body an excellent physique overall though i'm not the biggest fan of the weathering on the scale meal these little silver specks just look like dust caught in the grooves and i constantly just want to brush them off the slopes on the shoulders make the profile overall more natural and the harness looks great as well not too much to nitpick here at least for me like with the scale male the shoulder pads are also a separate layer atop the fabric they look great by themselves with a bit of weathering in the avengers logo but they do add extra bulge to an already pretty wide shoulder this could throw proportions off a bit especially when you compare cap to it's on screen appearance yet at the same time this isn't very noticeable when you leave him in a dynamic pose so this could be an issue for you depending on what you want out of the figure but the arms look amazing with all the accurate details and patterns the mid section has a bit of weathering along with the brilliant stitchings and folds which have been consistent since the civil war release and the same goes for the belt with a shimmery lining in the middle complete with decorative pockets and buckles the pants and knee pads bear the usual quality details pattern and weathering though i'm not seeing a whole lot of this america's ass i'm guessing they nerfed cap's butt because this is technically not the suit that emphasized this part of his body the boots are excellently sculpted with a separate shinto ankle piece that cleverly hides the joints without sacrificing posability every sixth skill boot should be done like this this release also comes with all the right accessories to recreate key character moments from the film starting with of course the shield it's made of plastic so it's super light the weathering pattern is also somewhat accurate to the movie the handle straps on the back are removable so you can install this hook in the base of the handle and clip the shield on the back side of cap's harness which of course looks fantastic you can also stick the straps in the gripping hand reattach the strap to the shield with the hand part in place then stick the arm through to reattach at the wrists there's also this battle damaged shield with some pronounced weathering on the shattered ridges it's got the same detachable handle straps but with bits of the base broken off to match the ridges it also comes with two shattered pieces which makes for great display props what's really cool is you can roughly put the pieces back together as a whole then we have the mjolnir the usage of which was a defining moment for the character it's made of plastic and is hollow which makes it easy to pose but it's complete with all the details on the handle and ridges to make it look like the real deal and with that we can talk about the interchangeable faceplates i'm kind of a bummer in that i still see the same disconnect between the sculpt and the real actor maybe it's because the eyes are somewhat neutral looking from certain angles it just looks like the actor underneath is phoning it in with some wacky expressions but once you properly line up the angles they look amazing and i'm very happy to have the display options then we have the helmet it's got similar weathering effects and it looks great all around hot toys didn't have to include this but i'm so glad they did because this makes for a great prop even with other mcu figures and finally we have the compass peggy's picture is very discernible but strangely the color and the base is inverted it should have white readings on a black surface but that's one inconsistency i'm willing to look past because this is still a great piece for exploring the more somber moments for the character most of hot toys cap releases have limited articulations due to the costume and this one's no exception i just wanted to note that it's very difficult to get my copy of the figure to raise its arms i had to really struggle just to bring it forward i've seen bloggers post photos of this figure with the arms straight up but i feel like i'm going to rip mine apart just to get there so hopefully you'll have better luck with yours sadly most of my other in-game figures are in storage at the time of filming except for this mark 85 iron man these two look absolutely fantastic together and i can't wait to have the endgame 4 join the lineup so there you have it the one sec scale end game captain america by hot toys and it was a roller coaster from announcement to release despite much of the climber on the suit's composition hatoi stuck to their design and they made it work is it a hundred percent screen accurate no but no in a sense that someone portrayed in a movie poster isn't exactly like how that person is in real life i tend to think of this figure as an idealized portrayal of camp where his proportions are slightly exaggerated to fit that heroic look a lot of sacrifices were made to articulation to maintain the overall tailoring and physique but it looks damn good within the range of poses that is allowed opinions on this figure could be a little divided there are still many pros and cons that i have yet to touch on and sure enough i can do this all day yeah i know in the end my opinion is simple this figure turned out a lot better than i thought and i hope you'll find the same everyone's standard for what is or isn't a flaw could be very different so just jump on it if you like it enough ultimately you have control over your own purchasing power and it speaks louder than any figure reviews out there thanks for watching and i'll see you in the next video [Music] you
