Hot Toys RoboCop Repaint in 1:6 Scale

hey guys in this video I'm going to compare and contrast the paint jobs on the original diecast hot toys RoboCop the recent RoboCop 3 version and the custom paint job I had commissioned RoboCop is one of my favorite movies so I'm very familiar with the history and design of effects Guru robotin suit it's an absolute work of Beauty in my opinion and owes a deep dead of gratitude to concept artist miles thieves this is the original diecast version from around 2013 meant to emulate the original movie from 1987 the original of course didn't have the overwhelming blue hues of the sequels especially as seen in RoboCop 2 based on hot toys promotional picks I think collectors were both excited and expecting to see something like a Soma blue finish instead we got a pretty flat Chrome silver I realize these shots are very plain and that's on purpose using only one bright white light I've tried to eliminate incidental lights from hitting the figure and perhaps influencing the colors if you look very closely there are some purple tones here and there but they're subtle so subtle that they're basically lost in my opinion now that has led artists to Tinker with the paint job adding pronounced blue and purple highlights with an airbrush collectors have definitely made custom improvements here's a promotional shot for the recent RoboCop 3 version and you can see why this got collectors excited again it has the strong blue Heat VI of the sequels here's the figure in bright white light you can tell right away that it doesn't live up to the Promotional pcks and this angered a lot of fans many of whom cancelled their pre-orders but it's definitely an improvement on the original I'm going to throw the figure in a light box so it's easier to see the fine details of the paint job the blue and purple highlights that collectors had been adding themselves are now present the skin tones on the exposed portion of his face have also changed the coloring is lighter if you don't own either figure I think the RoboCop 3 version is the one to get before hot toys announced their RoboCop 3 I had decided to give my original diecast version a repaint I had the Good Fortune of making contact with a professional artist who repainted the figure for other collectors he's actually stopped providing this service now so he asked to remain anonymous in this video here's his repaint in bright white light right away it reminds me of the hot toys promotional shot for the original dcast version the flat Chrome silver is gone and replaced with an even Soma blue finish there are subtle purple highlights in there as well this artist is a big fan of the original movie 2 so he actually repainted all the black parts of the suit due to the matte black finish they've gone from looking like metal to rubber which is a nice touch that I really appreciate and now I'll compare and contrast all three versions The repaint is obviously the most screen accurate to the original movie and I'm really glad I had it done if anyone is still unhappy with the RoboCop 3 version I wouldn't put it past hot toys to Spring a Robocop 2 version on collectors the same figure but with an overwhelming blue finish like the quarter scale PCS statue I actually have an attic full of Collectibles that are waiting to be put on display full-time RV living has obviously put that on hold but in the future you can expect more videos on Collectibles for now they're going to comment in a peace meal fashion I hope you stick around to see them as always thanks for [Music] watching
